About Me
I graduated from the California Maritime Academy in 2018 with a BS in Marine Engineering Technology. I come from a Mexican-American family, and I am the first in my family to graduate from college. My education was a mix of hands on learning in a diesel engine room aboard a ship and labs where I tinkered with electronic circuits, PLC programming, and fluid dynamics. My favorite project from my time at the Academy was fabricating a remote controlled drone using an Arduino microcontroller. I found it really satisfying to combine my coding ability with electronics and fabrication.
I have worked in several roles where I have been able to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills. In this photo I was working as the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in a food production plant where I was in charge of the maintenance data reporting. The graphs and reports I made helped drive business decisions affecting how much labor we needed, what priority to give pieces of equipment, and how to reduce turnover in our team of technicians.
In my more recent roles I have worked as an operating engineer at Disneyland Resort and at UCLA where I performed operations and repairs on the chillers, boilers, and auxiliary equipment at each plant. In each role I entered equipment operating data into spreadsheets to track the performance and health of the various systems in each plant.
My current role as a data analyst has me dealing with groundwater treatment testing results and financial analysis of the treatment plant where I work. I have been an engineer for most of my career, but I pivoted to data in order to chase a newfound passion. I believe my unique blend of skills can help me succeed.
